Greenworks was developed as an ergonomic kitchen knife range focused on handle comfort, blade shape and everyday usability. Studio Chan worked across the knives themselves, refining the relationship between blade profile, handle proportion and range consistency.
The project was shaped by client budget, which meant some wider range elements, including the accompanying knife block, were brought in as white-label components. While a bespoke block would have created a more cohesive product system, the design effort was focused where it could create the greatest user impact: the knives in hand.
The result is a commercially grounded product development project, balancing ergonomic improvement, range identity and the practical limitations of budget-led manufacturing.

The Challenge
The project began with a clear focus: improve the feel, usability and identity of an everyday knife range through better ergonomics.
The handle needed to feel comfortable, controlled and easy to use across different knife types. At the same time, the range had to remain commercially accessible and realistic for the client to produce within budget.
This meant the design work focused where it could create the most value: the knives themselves. Blade shape, handle ergonomics and product consistency became the priority, while other elements, such as the block, were adapted around available white-label solutions.


Design Focus
The main design effort centred on the handle.
Knives are highly tactile products, and the handle defines much of the user experience. The design needed to support grip, balance and everyday control, while creating a softer and more approachable product language for the Greenworks range.
The handle was developed to feel comfortable without becoming overcomplicated. Its form needed to work across multiple blade types, creating a consistent family while still allowing each knife to feel appropriate to its function.
