about

A sculptural ceramic homeware range developed for NOBULA, designed to bring a softer, more considered design language to Amazon home décor.

The collection spans four vase families, from glazed bottle-form trios to organic donut silhouettes and more statement-led sculptural pieces. Each design was developed around a balance of form, finish, production feasibility and marketplace appeal — creating pieces that feel calm, tactile and elevated, while still sitting within a commercially accessible retail price point.

Studio Chan supported the project across early concept creation, range development, supplier refinement, CMF decision-making, manufacturing considerations and Amazon-ready content creation.

The result is a calm, contemporary home décor range built for both visual appeal and e-commerce performance.

A key part of the project involved working through supplier feedback and sample development. Initial concepts were refined to better suit ceramic production, with adjustments made to form, detail, wall thickness, finish and manufacturability.

Some design details that worked visually at concept stage needed to be adapted once supplier limitations, cost and production consistency were considered. The development process focused on protecting the original design intent while making the vases achievable at scale.

This supplier-led refinement helped turn early design ideas into commercially viable products that could be manufactured, priced and sold effectively.

CMF was an important commercial tool within the project. Colour, material and finish choices were not only aesthetic decisions; they directly influenced perceived value, production cost and marketplace positioning.

Different finish directions were considered for how they would photograph, how premium they would appear online and how achievable they were within the required price point. The final CMF direction needed to support the brand’s visual identity while remaining realistic for Amazon retail.

This meant balancing design ambition with cost, ensuring the vases felt desirable without pushing the product beyond its commercial target.
